Zero trust security to be in the spotlight at #ITWebSS2021

The problem with modern business IT systems is that they let too many things run too openly and with too many default connections. In essence, they trust too much.

ITWeb Security Summit 2021: 1-3 June

Book your seat now to get up to speed on cyber security trends, solutions and best practices – all without leaving your home or office. The event will feature more than 50 speakers, including six international keynotes, who will be sharing their knowledge and expert opinions with you.

Early bird registration closes on 7 May.

The danger of this grows exponentially in a time where businesses are being bombarded with threats from both outside and inside their walls, and find themselves battling to figure out who can and can’t be trusted.

Step in zero trust – a concept founded on the belief that businesses should not automatically trust anything or anyone, irrespective of whether they are inside or outside their perimeters, and should rather verify everything and everyone trying to connect to their systems before granting access.

The zero trust model of cyber security completely scraps the old ‘sentinel at the gates’ mentality that had companies focusing on perimeter defences only, while assuming that everything already within that perimeter posed no threat and was therefore cleared for access.

After all, some of the most notorious and damaging data breaches happened because attackers, once they had a foothold inside the corporate firewall, were able move laterally through internal systems with little to no resistance.

So how can zero trust be applied to today’s businesses?

Romanus Prabhu Raymond, global head of technical support, endpoint management, and security at ManageEngine, will be presenting on “The cyber security essentials: Zero-touch patching and zero-trust management”, at the ITWeb Security Summit 2021, to be held as a virtual event from 1 to 3 June.

With over 20 years of experience as the global head of technical support, Raymond oversees the onboarding, product training, implementation and support experience for ManageEngine's customers. He also heads the product evangelist, professional services, partner certification and customer success teams.

Delegates attending Raymond's talk will learn how to improve their cyber security posture by implementing zero-touch patching as the security baseline and have other security features critical to remote working, such as zero-trust architecture built upon it.
