To remain ahead and understand governance in the digital age, attend the ITWeb Governance, Risk and Compliance Conference 2017 in February at The Forum in Bryanston. Book your seat now before the early bird offer expires.

Changes in the regulatory framework have a huge impact on governance, risk and compliance practitioners.

ITWeb's sixth annual Governance, Risk and Compliance conference will focus on the latest updates in the regulatory frameworks. The theme for this year is governance in the digital age, and will look at the risks that come with digitalisation.

Nerushka Bowan, a technology and privacy lawyer at Norton Rose Fulbright, will be one of the speakers and her talk will focus on why digital risk needs a seat on the board. "Digital risk is not just an IT issue. Not everyone can be a technical cyber security expert, but it is the GRC practitioner's responsibility to be able to ask the right questions to understand digital risk, so they can make informed decisions for the company," she said.

"Every business is a digital business. Across industries, more devices are becoming sensorised, connected and intelligent. This increases the amount of data collected. In this digital age, can you distinguish between internal and external digital business risks? Do you know what the digital risks specific to your industry are? Do you understand the regulatory framework in which your digital business operates? Do you know the ethical questions that need to be asked when implementing new technologies?" Bowan asked.

The Governance, Risk and Complianceconference will also tackle the new changes in King IV. Michael Judin, a senior partner in the Johannesburg-based law firm Judin Combrinck and on the Task Team writing King IV, will talk about the impact of King IV from a technology and information point of view. From this talk delegates attending will understand how the fourth industrial revolution is catered for in King IV, they will be able to analyse how King IV differs from King III and see how King IV recognises IT as a corporate asset and confirms the need for governance structures to protect and enhance this asset.
