Global financial innovation and technology company SystemicLogic has acquired Kagiso Media-owned data analytics company Knowledge Factory for an undisclosed amount.

Headquartered in Johannesburg, SystemicLogic helps companies build their innovation capability by offering ICT products and services, including enterprise asset management, data management and crowd-sourcing. It targets predominantly financial services firms, commercial enterprises and emerging businesses across Africa and Europe.

The acquisition, according to SystemicLogic, will enable it to provide end-to-end data analytics solutions to large corporates, as well as much-needed data services to emerging entrepreneurs.

Audrey Mothupi, SystemicLogic CEO, says the acquisition will enhance the company's data, digital and innovation offerings, helping clients improve operational efficiencies.

"Both the organisations work with clients to help them navigate the tech world and use innovation to solve problems. The acquisition enables SystemicLogic to bring on board the necessary skills, capability and tech platforms required to deliver bespoke digital solutions that are defined in a business strategy," she notes.

"We are excited about the new opportunities it brings for our clients in SA, Africa and further afield, as the acquisition not only opens up new prospects for the business, but also paves the way for more job creation. As a country, we need to continue to create more opportunities for entrepreneurs to grow."

Established in 1997, Knowledge Factory offers solutions based on property data and marketing insights. The company has skills in software development, Web development, big data, data enrichment, data lakes or data warehousing and consumer segmentation.

"Data is the 'new liquid gold' across the world; however, available skills, systems and processes, particularly in the public sector, remain a challenge. The lack of skills specifically around data science, machine learning and cognitive (AI) capability is a challenge, but we can't sit back and do nothing. The opportunity presented means we can work towards finding solutions and building capability which is exactly why such an acquisition adds value," adds Mothupi.

The collaboration between SystemicLogic and Knowledge Factory will give birth to new offerings such as database administration, security and backup, business intelligence, Web services access and API development, say the companies.

"We are delighted to be part of this dynamic group," says Ashwin Frankie, Knowledge Factory CEO.

"We identify existing and potential data sources, conduct analyses and make sense of the data, before finally using it to address business problems, using the data in B2B markets such as financial institutions, home loans (bonds), estate agents, property valuators, etc. This is particularly valuable to the property market when it comes to sales and investments of residential property."
