Local health technology company RecoMed has collaborated with medical practice management software provider GoodX, to integrate its healthcare practice management software with RecoMed's online booking platform.

The product has concluded a successful six-month pilot phase, and is launching nationally to corporate and independent healthcare providers this month.

RecoMed allows patients to find and book appointments with healthcare institutions, providing services to Discovery Wellness Clinics, Medicross, the Biokinetics Association of SA and Momentum Multiply, among others.

The online booking platform services over 1 600 healthcare providers and is claimed to be the largest health booking platform and marketplace in SA.

GoodX develops medical practice management software that includes solutions in billing, clinical records and cloud-based patient portals, servicing over 5 000 practitioner customers nationwide.

The application programming interface-based integration between the companies streamlines the workflow for healthcare practices, allowing patient bookings to be conducted and managed on one interface instead of two. Appointments appear automatically into the GoodX back-end practice calendar, eliminating double-entry work for admin staff, notes RecoMed.

"RecoMed is delighted to announce this partnership with GoodX, where both companies share a common purpose of improving the patient journey, while also increasing footfall and revenue for healthcare providers during tough economic times," says Sheraan Amod, CEO of RecoMed.

"Prior to the integration, when a patient made a booking on the RecoMed platform, the practice received the booking request notification via their RecoMed back-end calendar, or via SMS and e-mail. The receptionist (or practitioner) would then need to check their GoodX practice management calendar for availability, accept the appointment via RecoMed tools, and enter the patient details into GoodX. All of this wastes time for both the practice and the patient, who is awaiting an appointment confirmation."

With the integration, one solution is offered to practices, allowing patient appointments to appear automatically into the GoodX practice management back-end.

The system can also be set up to automatically accept an appointment, giving the patient zero waiting time, adds Amod.

"Once an appointment is successfully confirmed, the patient can fill out all of their personal and medical aid forms online prior to entering the practice, which saves them lots of time upon arrival and also makes repeat visits much easier as their paperwork will be pre-filled for them."

Early this year, RecoMed had the same collaboration with medial software solutions provider Solumed and integrated its booking platform into Solumed's healthcare practice management software.

According to RecoMed data, around 66% of all online medical appointments booked are done so after hours when practices are closed. To add an additional layer of convenience for patients, GoodX has added the MyGrandCentral application into this integration, which enables patients to electronically fill out all of their medical forms online, outside of office hours.

GoodX CTO Kobus Wolwaardt explains: "GoodX's partnership with RecoMed allows us to add real value to our customers by significantly increasing their visibility to new patients looking for doctors, and further streamlining their practice workflows using the best technology.

"It's clear that many consumers want to do everything online these days, and that's why GoodX is positioned to enable a complete electronic patient journey from bookings to form filling. We're very excited to take this to market."
