New 48-port managed switch launched

Johannesburg, 11 Mar 2003

Duxbury Networking, the local distributor of Netgear networking products, has released a new 48-port, Layer 2, Fast Ethernet stackable, managed network switch.

Dubbed the FSM750S, this non-blocking switch is targeted at growing businesses that need to keep pace with an increasing workflow.

"It is designed to deliver high port density, flexibility, and ease of use for anyone new to managed switching," says Graham Vorster, chief technology officer at Duxbury Networking.

"Essentially this switch is aimed at expanding network infrastructures in companies with increasing workflow," he says.

The switch is shipped with two interface options - an easy-to-follow, browser-based interface, and a command line interface. There is also an unmanaged option.

"Built-in stacking ports provide simple, cost-effective stacking without stacking modules," notes Vorster. "Built-in gigabit ports provide dedicated uplink connectivity without sacrificing stacking ports. A stacking cable is included and GBIC slots offer standards-based flexibility for maximising uplink bandwidth."

The Netgear FSM750S switch meets management needs by supporting SNMP, RMON, VLAN, QoS, port trunking, Spanning Tree, and port mirroring. All ports are auto-negotiating and support Auto Uplink technology.
