Former Gauteng Shared Services Centre CEO Mike Roussos, now under criminal investigation over a Gauteng IT contract, says he will take legal action to clear up the matter.
Roussos says in a lengthy statement published in Business Day today that many of the facts of the matter were misrepresented, and that the provincial government had "launched an all-out vendetta" against him.
This comes after a media conference on Friday, at which the Gauteng MEC for Finance and Economic Affairs, Paul Mashatile, said a forensic audit had recommended a criminal investigation into Capstone 518, the IT company that was the sole provider of IT services to the GSSC.
Capstone 518 traded as Infotech Solutions Services. Mike Roussos was a 50% shareholder in the company, which received R52 million worth of business from the GSSC while he was CEO. The other 50% of the company was owned by Blue IQ Investment Holdings, which is wholly owned by the Gauteng Provincial Government.
Mashatile said only Roussos stood to gain from the deal, and he noted that former Gauteng MEC for Finance and Economic Affairs Jabu Moleketi had not structured the Capstone shareholders` agreement, or signed any documents relating to it.
Roussos says in his statement that Capstone was formed at the request of the Gauteng Provincial Government and was aimed at saving the province money. He claims senior politicians, including the provincial premier, agreed to the "unusual and innovative" arrangement.
