SAP denies Gartner criticism

SAP reacted harshly to a report this week from Gartner that found SAP's , and (GRC) software suite lacking, says Search SAP.

"No vendor is going to be able to cover the entire corporate governance spectrum," said French Caldwell, research VP with Gartner. "But if you cannot prove it and report it, then you might as well not be doing it as far as an auditor is concerned."

"Where do you start?" asked Jim Dunham, who is group president of GRC Solutions Management at SAP. "This was so far off, it's not even funny."

Research looks at GRC success

New research from Enterprise Management Associates (EMA) shows that IT GRC management is increasingly linked to the overall governance of an organisation, states The Sun Herald.

The study looks at the challenges facing IT GRC, the factors that contribute to successful IT GRC deployments and the critical role IT service management best practices play in IT GRC success.

The study also calls out the high value of adopting IT service management best practices such as the IT Infrastructure Library, which was embraced by 55% of all respondents.

Compliance Week 2008 coming soon

Organisers of Compliance Week 2008 in Washington DC from 4 to 5 June said the event will provide views into critical issues facing financial, legal, risk, audit and compliance officers at publicly held companies, says Trading Markets.

The third annual event, hosted by Compliance Week, features speakers from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Department of Justice, and the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board.

The event will present compliance and governance initiatives, such as the SEC's recent proposal to have all companies file their financial reports using the interactive data format known as XBRL (eXtensible Business Reporting Language).
