The Absa online banking fraud case has sparked a great deal of fear among online banking clients. Radio talk shows and readers` feedback columns in the media have focused strongly on consumer fears that they will be defrauded and that their banks will not protect them.
A user poll on SA search engine Ananzi this morning indicated that 60% of respondents now consider Internet banking to be unsafe. ITWeb readers noted in feedback to articles that banks should be able to track and reverse electronic transactions, and should notify clients if unusual transactions take place.
Meanwhile, an IT security company based in Johannesburg has launched a special offer on its anti-keystroke logging solution for Internet and electronic banking clients. The company, Keytrack Computer Security, claims its Anti-Keylogger solution is the only tool available to detect and eradicate all spyware.
Keytrack GM Franz Lamers says he has been in talks with local banks to offer the solution to their e-banking clients since early this year.
