The court appearance of the 35-year-old man arrested in connection with the Absa online banking fraud case has been postponed again.
The man, Johannes Jacobus Fourie, arrested in Cape Town recently, was scheduled to appear in the Bellville magistrate`s court in the Western Cape this morning. However, the court appearance has been postponed for another week at the request of the defence team comprising counsel, Sakkie Maartens, and attorney Chris Watney.
No additional charges have been laid and no application for bail has been made.
The case relates to 10 charges of fraud and theft involving around R530 000 transferred from online banking customers` accounts in the past few weeks. He appeared briefly in the Bellville magistrate`s court last week, and the case was remanded to today.
Although there have been claims that a second suspect was wanted in connection with the case, no further arrests have been made.
