Dolph Westerbos will head up Datatec's largest unit, Westcon, from next month, as Dean Douglas moves on to "take up another role" after a handover period.
Westerbos, a joint US/Dutch national, has held several senior roles over the past two decades, says Datatec in a statement. He joins Westcon from Brambles unit CHEP, where he served as group president of Asia Pacific and Europe, Middle East and Africa.
He was also VP of solutions and services for Dell, and has worked at Nasdaq-listed ModusLink, a global provider of supply chain, IT and business process outsourcing services.
Westerbos has a Master of Science in Management from Stanford University's Graduate School of Business.
Datatec says Westerbos' experience has been principally gained in business-to-business services, covering the technology sector, supply chain and asset management, as well as business process outsourcing operations.
CEO Jens Montanana says: "Dolph brings a considerable international track record, so we are delighted that he is joining us to run Westcon. His experience in global supply chain operations, coupled with technology-based services, and his focus on operational efficiency and international commerce will be invaluable."
"I'm excited to be joining the company at this pivotal time to accelerate its next stage of growth," says Westerbos.
Westcon is Datatec's largest unit in terms of revenue, accounting for 71% of turnover. In the first half of the year, it reported a "disappointing" performance as it was adversely impacted by roll out of an ERP system in North America, which had a big effect on transaction volumes, says Datatec.
The group, which provides solutions for unified communications, network infrastructure, data centres and security, operates in the Americas, Europe, Asia Pacific and Africa, India and the Middle East.
Montanana also thanked outgoing CEO Douglas, who "will be leaving to pursue another business opportunity [to be] announced later this week".
"On behalf of the Datatec board, I'd like to thank Dean for his significant achievements in globalising Westcon over the last five years. We wish him well in his next role."
Douglas joined the Westcon Group in June 2008, before which he was CEO of LCC International, a global wireless service provider engineering services firm.
