Olicom expands portfolio

Olicom Africa and PQ Holdings subsidiary, Diamond Network Technologies (DNT), have signed a distribution agreement. DNT`s Di-NIC range of remotely manageable network interface cards will now be marketed through Olicom`s channel infrastructure in South Africa. Targeted at medium to large corporate markets, the Di-NIC range of cards facilitates control and management of remote networked workstations and banking ATMs in operating-system absent environments.

3Com SA to demonstrate latest networking technologies at it`s annual user group conference

3Com SA is to hold its second annual User Group Conference at the Mount Grace Country Hotel in Magaliesberg, from 9 to 11 July. Chris Van Niekerk, 3Com`s regional sales manager, says the main aim of the User Group is to promote a two-way flow of information between 3Com and its users. The agenda will cover topics such as converged networks, network management solutions, electronic commerce and will take a look at the future of the Internet and Virtual Private Networks (VPN`s).

Madge clears air on ATM position

The recent spin-off of Lannet from Madge Networks has led to some uncertainty in the market concerning Madge`s position on ATM topology. Madge will continue to offer ATM products, Madge Africa MD Peter Turvey said in a statement. "Madge recognises that ATM is a strategic LAN backbone technology for many major Token Ring sites, and will remain so because of its scalability, resilience, guaranteed quality of service, and WAN connectivity," Turvey stated. He said the Madge Collage 700 series of modular backbone ATM switches is based on Madge`s own hardware and software technology.
