Mobile industry rallies around proposed Mini PCI Standard

Top companies in the mobile computing industry have announced Mini PCI, a proposed standard for integrated communications that targets small form factor products such as notebook PCs, docking stations and printers. The new specification is a joint effort of the Mini PCI Roundtable, a group of 10 companies including 3Com, AMP, Compaq Computer, Dell Computer, Gateway, Hitachi PC, IBM, Micron Electronics, Mobility Electronics and Toshiba.

Bay Networks captures 53 percent of layer 3 routing switch market

Bay Networks has retained its position as number one provider of Layer 3 routing switches, according to a study by market research firm The Dell`Oro Group. The report shows that Bay captured 53% of the Layer 3 routing switch market, growing revenues by 71% and market share by 8% from the previous quarter. The report shows that Bay also dominated the overall Gigabit Ethernet market segment with 28% of revenue share.
