Bay to offer high density access switch

Bay Networks has introduced a next generation Internet access platform that combines the density of Layer 2 frame relay switches with the IP Class of Service. The access switch provides six times the density of dedicated connections at one third the price of today`s multi-box solutions.

Bay Networks has issued an informational Request for Comment (iRFC) to the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) for an open industry standard protocol which supports inter-working between Signaling System 7 (SS7) network elements and Internet elements such as Remote Access Servers (RAS).

eFusion, 3Com form strategic alliance

eFusion, a leading provider of Internet telephony application gateways, and 3Com Corporation, a leader in data networking, have announced a strategic alliance to provide enhanced IP telephony applications based on 3Com`s Total Control Solution. The primary goal of the alliance is to provide business customers with cost effective, converged voice and data applications over the Internet, the two companies said. Specifically, both companies have agreed to joint engineering efforts to ensure product interoperability for electronic/web commerce and business call center applications.

Bay offers single IP solution for voice and fax

Bay Networks has launched the Voice Gateway 4000 that acts as a bridge between a corporate PABXs and Internet protocol (IP) data networks, allowing seamless voice communications between the two technologies. Bay said the technology enables large savings on domestic, long distance and international telephone charges.
